Role Summary:
This position of Controller reports directly to the Vice President, Finance and plays a key senior role on the Finance Team of our rapidly growing organization. Responsible for planning, directing and coordinating all operational accounting functions, this role is tasked with adding value and gaining efficiencies through continual improvement. This role will manage the operational accounting departments and supervise and lead various strategic financial projects involving multiple stakeholders from all levels within the organization. The successful incumbent will also lead process and internal control development in order to mitigate risk and support the company’s continued growth in this fast paced environment. Responsibilities:
-Planning, directing and coordinating all accounting operational functions.
-Supervise accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and procurement departments.
-Establishing and maintaining financial policies and procedures; and internal controls to ensure proper segregation of duties and accounting standards.
-Assess current accounting operations, evaluate accounting and internal control systems to mitigate risks and improve operating efficiencies.
-Ensuring the day-to-day business affairs of the company are appropriately managed
-Researching accounting issues for compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and IFRS.
-Aid and assist in development of other team members within Finance department.
-Ad hoc special projects and systems implementations as required.
Education, knowledge and experience required:
-University degree and Chartered Accounting Designation (CA).
-5-7 years relevant post qualification experience, including industry experience preferably in a financial services or related environment.
-Proven ability to supervise, coach, mentor and develop a diverse accounting team.
-Proven ability to add value by analyzing and improving operations, systems, and policies.
-Highly proficient with accounting systems, spreadsheet skills and analytical tools.
-Great Plains experience is an asset.
-Experience with IFRS is preferred.
-Superior analytical, problem-solving and decision making skills.
-Able to function independently while managing and developing strong working relationships within all levels and functions of the organization.
-Demonstrate excellence in time management skills.
-Able to manage changing priorities.
-Superior communication, presentation and organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
-Critical to success is the ability to excel in a fast moving, dynamic environment.
